This work has the purpose to promote the traditional values of Horezu and tries to solve in a sociocultural way the existing problems considering its rich culture. This project approaches a real problem, as the touristic potential of the whole area can be increased by proposing a cultural center that can shape a strong connection between art and community, and at the same time a starting point for tourists. This project follows the concept of creative tourism in witch the most important factor is that creativity is an atribute of the production process at the same time with the consumtion process, and may also be a key mechanism in avoiding the onset of serial reproduction often associated with traditional models of cultural tourism development. The approach of this project is a realist one through the proposal of a cultural center. The main activities will be dedicated to art and ceramic culture and will have the purpose tu educate and bring together the community to preserve the ceramic tradition, today existing only a small number of families that do this craft. Trough this project can be promoted the local culture of Horezu, by building workshops, exhibition spaces for local artists and craftsmen, but also by attracting tourists and generating tourist circuits in relation with the existing objectives. Considering the fact that the project focuses on integration of the local culture and architecture, the solution that was chosen for the new buildings was to propose pavilion type constructions integrated with the local build environment, taking elements from local rural architecture and reinterpreting them. Like the local “prispa”, a liniar circulation is proposed assuring a good relation with the space of the courtyard and like the “foisor”, the exterior terraces assure a lengthening of the interior spaces and also beautiful views to all the important elements of the area. The development strategy of the city of Horezu is following too the promotion of the active tourism encouraging people to exploit the area and at the same time to make a cultural center, bringing an impulse also in an economic way to revive and exploit the available potential.Text description of the author
Beliță George Cătălin is a 2018 graduate of the Politehnica University of Timisoara, Faculty of Architecture and City Planning, who has a passion for graphic design and who thinks that architecture has to be aware of its volumetric impact and also its social impact on a community. The projects he worked for in competitions or in an academic environment have always taken into account these two fundamental aspects.
