The current project, called Craftsmen’s House, is thought to be a continuation of the initiative carried out by AsoP - West Territorial Branch, called "Wooden Churches of the Banat", that aims to save and preserve the rural heritage of Banat. The architectural solution is developed in the village of Crivina de Sus, Timiş County, where the working team operates since 2013. At the core of the project’s concept are two important facts: 1. The preoccupation with problems arising from the field studies, problems that can also be felt at a national level such as lack of craftsmen, loss of traditional practices, neglect of built heritage - minimum sources of income and lack of jobs, de-coagulation of the community, lack of accessible sources of information, poor use of local resources; 2. The desire for a place in the territory of the community formed around the Wooden Churches of Banat project, the sustainable continuity of the activities and the transfer of accumulated knowledge. Thus, through the project, I have tried to find a solution for these problems, developing a Center for Heritage Recovery composed of three workshops, including the Craftsmen's House - Workshop for the reactivation of traditional construction techniques and materials. The Craftsmen’s House is primarily a training workshop, having the main role of preparing and specializing craftsmen in the field of restoration of vernacular wood heritage in the western area of Romania, through professional re-qualification of locals (carpentry, stone and earth plastering workshops); and secondly a local carpentry workshop - thought to be an income generator. At the same time, the Craftsmen’s House is meant to become a place for community meetings and cultural activities - a place for the exchange of information between urban and rural. The project was designed to have a gradual evolution and be built through a constructive school-type process using local materials. Therefore, in Stage I, the BARN will be rebuilt and refurbished, in Stage II the WORKSHOP will be built, and in Stage III the HOUSE.Text description of the author
