Project description
Tracing and notating thinking processes, knowledge production, and spatial action diagrammatically, based on the attempt to resolve the opposition between propositional (linguistic) and diagrammatic logic, reasoning, and representation, 'diagrammatic mode of inference' has been claimed, developed, tested, and confirmed to be a relevant system of proof and thinking, establishing thereby foundations for a scientific discussion about the new field of ‘diagrammatics’. ’Research diagrammatology and diagrammatics’, as instruments and frames of both mapping and recording, add up to the status of 'design intelligence research’ enabling new knowledge to emerge out of the established concepts, from historical data systems and categories ('metahistorical ‘archives’/’strata'),providing their critical reassessment within the open-structure meta-field from where it becomes possible to uncover hidden relations and neglected autonomies, or to anticipate new ones ('microhistories’) as continuities or ruptures within the existing ‘strata’. It could take a form of a strategy, method, logic or cognitive instrument, structure and a system of coding that articulates this data-complexity. As a specific 'diagrammatic documentality and inscription' (logic and dynamics), ‘design intelligence strategy’ has been proposed as a possible modality of architecturally constructed research framework and digital cognitive/memory-extension applied in order to facilitate dealing with any kind of documentary or creative practice with data and scientific problematization within the field of design research and science. It has been given the status of a ‘diagram’ - an active principle and manner or (meta-, inter-, and intra- cognitive) register of knowledge production, critique, evaluation, and advancement, world construction, data-compression and articulation, all towards problem-solving through its specific diagrammatic visual semiotics and inferencing. Defining the eleven-degree-set of properties by which it has been constituted (01. meta-level processing: the post-disciplinary metacognition strategy, 02. diagrammatics and diagrammatic thinking strategy; 03. timeline and palimpsest strategies: macro-historical and micro-historical inferences; 04. topological thinking; 05. (neuro)networking strategy; 06. spatial thinking: data-scaping and mapping (data-architecture strategy); 07. memory palace strategy, 08. quantum logic decidability, 09. dynamic complexity and adaptability; 10. data forensics: information reliability and validation, 11. creative interactive thinking) ‘diagrammatics’ have been extracted and put to the forefront as substantial to both internal relational logic of a certain thinking regime (immanence) and external meta-logic that puts this strategy into a superior (transcendent) meta-position.
